Legendary actress Pam Grier has been added to the cast of Paramount’s Pet Sematary prequel, Variety reported. The Jackie Brown icon will take part in what’s described as the origin story of the 2019 movie based on Stephen King’s novel about a family who discovers a peculiar graveyard in the forest behind their home.

The outlet reported that the film hasn’t been named yet, but is set to begin filming in August of this year. It will debut exclusively on the Paramount Plus streaming app.

Grier will co-star alongside Jackson White, Forrest Goodluck, Jack Mulhern, Isabella Star LeBlanc, and Natalie Alyn Lind. The film will be directed by Lindsey Beer and will be the screenwriter’s directorial debut.

The 2019 film pulled in over $100 million globally at the box office, compared to the $57.5 million the 1989 film adaption of King’s novel brought in during its debut.

Pam Grier rose to stardom during the 1970s playing in blaxploitation films including Coffy, Foxy Brown, Friday Foster, and The Big Bird Cage. The 72-year-old recently starred in a few episodes of This Is Us, the 2010 rom-com Just Wright, and played "Kit Porter" on the series The L Word.
