Comedian Tiffany Haddish and Oscar-nominated actor LaKeith Stanfield are reportedly in talks to star in Disney’s forthcoming Haunted Mansion film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film would be based on Disney’s spooky theme park ride and not connected to the 2003 film starring Eddie Murphy

Filmmaker Justin Simien, who wrote Dear White People and the 2020 film Bad Hair, is set to direct the film.

The story will follow a family who moves into the movie’s mansion. If cast in the starring roles, Stanfield would play a widower who once believed in the supernatural who now works as a lackluster tour guide in New Orleans’ French Quarter. Haddish, who won this year’s Grammy for Best Comedy album, would play a psychic hired to speak with the dead.

Filming is set to begin this fall and is the latest film to be adapted from a ride at the famous theme park after Jungle Cruise, starring Dwayne Johnson

Haddish and Stanfield have kept busy with each starring in hit projects over the last few years. Haddish last starred in Netflix’s comedy Bad Trip and reportedly finished production on Easter Sunday. Her next appearance, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent with Nicholas Cage, is scheduled for a 2022 release.

Stanfield is co-stars in Atlanta and recently played alongside Daniel Kaluuya again in the Oscar-winning Judas and the Black Messiah. His next appearance is Netflix’s Black Western film The Harder They Fall
