President Donald Trump said he doesn't believe he's "heaven-bound."

“I think I'm not, maybe, heaven-bound,” Trump said on Sunday (October 12) while speaking to reporters on Air Force One. “I may be in heaven right now as we fly in Air Force One.”

“I'm not sure I'm gonna be able to make heaven," he added. "But I've made life better for a lot of people.”

Trump's comments came in response to a question about remarks the president made in August, when he suggested that brokering peace between Russia and Ukraine might improve his chances of getting into heaven.

“I wanna try and get to heaven if possible. I'm hearing I'm not doing well,” Trump previously told Fox News. “But if I can get to heaven, this will be one of the reasons.”

When asked on Sunday about whether his role in the recent Gaza ceasefire could help, Trump responded, “I mean, I'm being a little cute,” before repeating his doubts about being "heaven-bound."

Sunday's comments went viral on social media, with several users agreeing with Trump's sentiment.

"Most self aware statement Trump has ever made," one X user wrote.

"The fact that he’s okay with not going to heaven should be a wake-up call for every conservative Christian," another person said.

"Finally, we agree on something!" a third user commented.

When asked whether Trump was serious about tying peace efforts to heaven, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “I think the president was serious. I think the president wants to get to heaven—as I hope we all do in this room as well.”
